My feet and my walking shoes take a lot of abuse. That is one of the reasons I was excited to try products from the ARM&HAMMER Foot Care collection. (I received free samples from ARM&HAMMER.)

The products I received include Shoe Refresher Spray, Invisible Spray Powder for feet and Invisible Spray Powder for the body.

Because I am not a fan of body sprays, I chose to try just the shoe refresher and foot spray.

Invisible Spray Powder for Feet

Not only do my feet get hot and sweaty while walking and training, they also get very sweaty in the shoes I wear in my daily work life. For that reason, the first few times I tried the spray were before heading to work.

To make sure I could tell if it was effective, I used the Invisible Spray Powder for feet on only one foot leaving the other as a “control.” I followed the directions, shaking the can and holding it about 7 inches from my left foot and spraying for 3 seconds. It felt cool and refreshing and there was no residue or powder visible. I’m very sensitive to overly perfumed products, but this had a light scent that was pleasant and not over-powering. I put on my high heels and went to work.

Each day for a week I repeated the process before leaving the house. I was pleasantly surprised that my left foot was much more comfortable all day. Typically my feet become sweaty and clammy in the afternoon. I noticed that my left foot was not sticking in my shoe, but the right was. My left foot was also less affected by the humidity in the building.

On Saturday mornings when I do my longest mileage of the week, the foot that was sprayed was drier and more comfortable than the foot that was not sprayed.

After the experiment, I gladly sprayed both of my feet, especially on the most hot and humid days.

Shoe Refresher Spray

My shoes do not get nearly as smelly as my husband’s, and I have no idea why. Because of that, as soon as I saw the Shoe Refresher Spray I sprayed several pairs of his shoes. The nozzle is designed to spray inside the shoe all the way to the toe. The scent is light and inoffensive. The instructions say, for best results, let the shoes sit overnight before wearing.

This spray worked like a charm! I went from not letting my husband take off his shoes — his shoes and his feet smelled horrible — to not noticing if he took them off. The results were so good, I ended up spraying every pair of shoes we both own.

Conclusions

Both of these sprays worked as advertised. My feet were drier and cooler using the Invisible Spray Powder and my husband’s awful smelling shoes were deodorized with the Shoe Refresher Spray. (I did not try the body spray.)
